TY ‘FOCUS’ NATHANAEL
PRESIDENT & COO
Ty Nathanael – Ty Nathanael – dubbed “Focus” due to his ability to block out every distraction while working towards a goal – was Scarborough born, and currently calls Brampton and Toronto home.
In 2011 Focus and a group of high school friends formed a record label and began signing and managing local artists and producers. Young and excited they learned the ropes through trial and error. They did collaborations with artists such as French Montana, Tory Lanez, and Future to name a few as well as performing at concerts with Fabulous, 2Chainz, Freeway and Waka Flocka. They operated the label from 2011-2016 alongside being a promoter for various nightclubs in Downtown Toronto. However, jumping into the music game at a young age without mentors or guidance, eventually lead to the end of the label. In the fall of 2016, he become a partner in the popular nightclub named BLVD on King Street.
Being an entrepreneur at heart, it didn’t take too long for Focus to find another opportunity to step back into the music industry. Focus met T-Nyce (CEO and Owner of Nycesound Production Inc.) in 2016, during the final years of running his label. At the time, T-Nyce aided in the marketing, and the two grew from their experiences and kept in touch.
While “temporarily retiring from the industry” Focus paid close attention to Toronto’s music scene in 2020. Late in the year, Nyce tagged Focus back into the scene in what Nathanael says was, “a matter of perfect timing”. After being presented with a vision of how to make a name for Toronto’s music, and it’s artists, Nyce convinced and inspired the music entrepreneur to join the venture. “I heard the FIRE in his voice, and I knew this is exactly what the city needed – “I was all the way with it”.
Today, Focus sits as the COO and President of Nycesound Production Inc. It is here where he continues to work towards creating a solid platform that allows artists and talent to flourish and build full-time careers within the music industry.
Nathanael says, “There are tons of opportunities in the entertainment realm and our artists shouldn’t feel like they must leave the country to find a lucrative label situation. I would love to see more artists from here gain worldwide attention, tour the world on the strength of their sound and be able to create brands.”
Focus combines lessons learned from his mentors and role models including CEO P, 50 Cent, Nipsey Hussle, and Birdman to build his legacy. He strives to break great musical talent into the international ranks, producing consistent numbers across all platforms around the world, and hopes to inspire entrepreneurs to get involved in creating more avenues in the city’s entertainment industry.
“I hope to inspire my city to put more focus on working together the same way they do in Atlanta. We have the potential to create an industry and achieve more.”
